Townsend Shield and the Cross Town Rivalry!
The Westman High School Rugby 15s season continues today with the Brandon cross-town rivalry being renewed! Vincent Massey travels across town to take on the Crocus Plainsmen. The women will be competing for the Townsend Shield named after former girls Crocus rugby coach and program founder Larry Townsend. The winner will retain the Shield and bragging rights for the year.
The Girls will kick-off at 1pm with the boys game to follow around 2pm. Good luck to all the teams and keep an eye out for kick-off times for the semi-finals next week!!
Welcome to the 2025-2026 edition of the Westman High School Rugby website. Our organization is committed to promoting the game of rugby as well as improving the standard of play within its member schools throughout Western Manitoba. It is dedicated to fostering sportsmanship and fair play among its athletes. It also assists in the organization of league competition, tournaments and tours as well as other related activities and programs. We hope that you will find this website both informative and useful.

Westman High School Rugby Bursaries
WHSR offers two $250.00 bursaries for any male or female applicants who were members in good standing with their WHSR member High School. Applicants must do the following to qualify:
- Prove Acceptance to a Post-Secondary Institution
- Be Rostered on a University Varsity Rugby Team
- Provide a High School Transcript & Letter of Recommendation from High School Coach
- Letter from Applicant explaining their future education & rugby endeavors
- Must complete at least one full year of school at a Post-Secondary Institution
